Viewing Lab Results

Overview

How you review samples and tests depends on what was configured for the account. A typical LIMS setup includes one or more dashboards for lab results, plus the ability to open results from a form template.

The dashboard names and tabs below are examples of what can be configured. Your account may use different names, a subset of these views, or additional views.

Example dashboards

A common pattern is three dashboards:

Example dashboard What it is for
Lab Results One row per sample, with the tests taken on that sample. Filterable and exportable.
Test Results by Instrument Instrument metadata and tests, split by site and instrument.
Instrument Samples Workflow-status summary, stream-level trending, and scheduled samples with results.

Example: Lab Results

On a Lab Results–style dashboard you can typically:

  • Filter by sample metadata (including batch ID, when that field is used)
  • Choose which test types are visible
  • Limit the view to off-spec or on-spec results

Each row is one sample and includes the tests taken on it.

  • The link on the left opens the Create Sample form submission.
  • Tests attach to samples through workflows. The link next to a test result opens that workflow, where you can see both the sample submission and the test submission.

On any dashboard, the control in the top-right corner exports the view to CSV or Excel.

Example: Test Results by Instrument

This kind of dashboard is usually split by site (one tab per site).

  • With no instrument selected, it shows calibration and validation metadata for instruments at that site.
  • Selecting an instrument shows only that instrument's test results. Each row typically links to the test form submission and the associated sample submission.

Example: Instrument Samples

This kind of dashboard often has several tabs, for example:

  • Testing Workflows Summary — open, completed, and recently completed testing workflows
  • Stream Analyzer — trending by test type, one stream at a time
  • Field Lab Tests — scheduled samples, due date, date sampled, and results

Results from a form template

To review every submission for one form (for example Create Sample or a density test form):

  1. Go to Forms > Templates.
  2. Open the template.
  3. Use the submission table to review results.
  4. Filter by submission date (and any other filters you need). Most common filters are in Overview.
  5. Export to Excel when you need a file.
