Step 5: Prorate Networks
For all networks that have been created as part of the Clairifi migration, the Volumetric Determination Method in the Networks table is an attribute which outlines whether the meter behaved as a Meter Measured or Meter Derived in Clairifi.
By default, Measured Networks are pre-configured to only prorate Fuel Combusted flows (as per the AQM).
Derived Networks have a ‘Left Over Gas Volume’ flow with Type: ‘Recovered’ which is the only flow in the network that is pre-configured to be adjustable. The adjusted volume for the Left Over Gas Volume Flow is equal to the derived meter volume - sum of theoretical volumes from all other flows in the derived network.
How to Prorate Networks
Once the theoretical volumes are calculated, networks can be prorated based on the inputted meter readings:
- Navigate to the Networks tab within the Calculators page.
- Use the calendar filter to filter for the correct month.
- Click on the “Apply Configuration” button at the top of the Calculations table. This button will apply the default adjustable configuration for each network.
- To view the default adjustable configuration for a network, click into the network name on the Networks tab and look at the Default Adjustable column in the Network Flows table. You can update the default adjustable configuration for a flow by turning on or off the toggle in the Default Adjustable column.
- Now, the Status of the calculations on all flows will be updated from ‘Incomplete’ to ‘Ready’.
- If you encounter a message stating “Unable to perform network proration”, please refer to the Why is Network Proration Unavailable? section.
- Click on the “Calculate” button at the top of the Calculations table. This button will prorate all networks and calculate the upstream volume, adjustable downstream volume, adjusted downstream volume, non-adjustable downstream volume, and adjustment factor. This button will also promote all adjusted volumes as records on flows.
Why is Network Proration Unavailable?
Network proration will not run for a network in Validere if one of the following three conditions are met:
- No volume record is inputted on the Primary flow in the network. In other words, the meter reading is not entered.
- The summation of theoretical fuel combusted volumes (Type: ‘Fuel’) is not greater than 0.
- The summation of theoretical fuel vented (Type: ‘Vent’) + theoretical fuel flared (Type: ‘Flare’) + theoretical fuel recovered (Type: ‘Recovered’) is greater than the volume record on the Primary flow in the network.
